Jake Thompson Likely To Pitch With Connecticut In 2013
According to Baseball America, The Detroit Tigers top draft selection of 2012 RHP Jake Thompson is slated to start the 2013 season with the Connecticut Tigers of the NY-Penn League. Thompson pitched with the rookie level Gulf Coast Tigers in 2012, and his workload was limited. Thompson was dominant with the GCL Tigers (1-2, 1.91), in 28.1 innings Thompson allowed only 14 hits, striking out 31 while walking 10. Two other pitchers CT Tiger fans should look out for are relievers Yorfrank Lopez, and Jose Valdez (both were dominant out of the bullpen with the GCL Tigers in 2012.) Valdez registered 15 saves with Gulf Coast in 2012, and may be the CT Tigers closer in 2013!
