CT Tiger Rightfielder Michael Gerber Has A Night For The Ages Saturday At Dodd Stadium
Connecticut Tigers' rightfielder had what could be the greatest single performance in Dodd Stadium history Saturday night in the CT Tigers 10-2 rout of the Tri-City Valley Cats. Gerber blasted a double, triple, 2 home runs and knocked in 8 runs against the Valley Cats. Gerber's double just narrowly missed being his third HR on the night.
Michael Gerber was the Detroit Tigers 15th round pick out of Creighton in 2014. He is currently hitting .514 with 3 HR and 16 RBI, 8 2B, 3 3B in just 37 AB for Connecticut. You better catch him play while you still can!

CT Tigers Prospect Domingo Leyba Starting To Heat Up In Norwich!
Connecticut Tigers' second baseman Domingo Leyba came into the 2014 season rated as the Detroit Tigers' #7 prospect. After a little settling in time, Leyba is starting to display his immense promise with the CT Tigers. Leyba has brought his average up to .255 and leads the Tigers in doubles with 5 and RBI's with 7 (Domingo also poked his first HR as a CT Tiger this week.)
As an 18 year old in 2013, Leyba tore up the Dominican Summer League (.348 5 HR, 36 RBI's, 15 doubles and 8 triples) in just 57 games. Keep your eyes on Domingo Leyba this season for the CT Tigers, he could be a special player down the road.

CT Tigers 2014 Bats Bring Back Memories Of 2011
While the 2014 Connecticut Tigers' pitching has been erratic to say the least, it appears the team will have no trouble scoring runs. This comes as a relief from the past two seasons of anemic offense in Norwich. The 2014 Tigers slightly resemble the high octane 2011 Tigers' offense. Let's hope the pitching comes around.

Tigers Add Several New Faces On Thursday
The Connecticut Tigers added several new players to their roster for Thursday's game with Lowell. Most are from June 2014 MLB Amateur Draft. The new additions include:
# 15 RHP Jack Fischer
#52 RHP Gabe Hemmer
#22 Tyler Ford
#40 IF/OF Will Maddox
#1 SS Garrett Mattlage
#46 IF Joey Pankake
#35 2B Brett Pirtle
#13 OF Michael Gerber
#55 OF Ross Kivett
OF Ben Verlander
More changes are most likely on the way!
Tigers' Bullpen Main Reason For Another Slow Start
Realistically, the Connecticut Tigers should be 5-2 this season instead of 2-5. The Tigers have wasted several superb outings by the teams' starters. The bullpen has been dismal thus far, with the exception of Johan Belisario (who could emerge as the team's closer.) The Tigers seem to be getting their share of hits so far but have left a lot of runners stranded. Of course, it's still early the team's fate could change in a hurry. However, this is the third straight season the team has started out in the bucket!
