CT Tigers On The Horizon: Domingo Leyba 2B/SS

Connecticut Tigers' fans should keep a eye out for second baseman/shortstop Domingo Leyba. Leyba tore it up in the Tigers' Dominican Summer League team in 2013. Leyba hit .348 with 5 homers, 15 doubles, 8 triples and 36 RBI's in just 201 AB with the DSL Tigers in 2013. Leyba is considered the Detroit organization's #9 prospect in 2014. He is slated to start the season in 2014 with the Gulf Coast Tigers but could reach Connecticut sometime in 2014!

Three Former Connecticut Tigers Among Detroit's Top 10 Prospects for 2014!

Three former Connecticut Tigers are among the top 10 prospects in the Detroit Tigers organization heading into the 2014 season (according to Baseball America.)

Second baseman and 2012 CT Tiger infielder Devon Travis has been voted as the Detroit Tigers #2 prospect in 2014 after being named Detroit Tigers 2013 Minor League Player Of The Year. Scouts see Travis as the future second baseman with the Detroit Tigers as early as 2015.

Right-handed pitcher and 2013 CT Tiger Jonathon Crwaford is listed as Detroit's #6 prospect after a short but impressive stint in Connecticut in 2013 (Crawford was Detroit's first round draft pick in 2013.)

Shortstop and and 2011 CT Tiger Eugenio Suarez has been listed as the Detroit Tigers #8 prospect. Suarez has seen time at both second base and shortstop in his minor league career. He was in big league camp with Detroit in 2013.

Former 2010 CT Tiger Robbie Weinhardt Released By Tigers Organization


Former Connecticut Tigers pitcher Robbie Weinhardt was recently released by the Detroit Tigers organization. Weinhardt holds the distinction of being the first and so far only CT Tigers alum to reach the major leagues. Robbie was a member of the CT Tigers inaugural team in 2010 and went (1-0, 2.25 ERA in 3 games with Connecticut.) He pitched in 30 MLB games for the Detroit Tigers during the 2010 & 2011 seasons, compiling a lifetime record of (2-2, 6.39 ERA.)

Zac Reininger Connecticut Tigers Connection's 2013 Pitcher Of The Year


Connecticut Tigers Connection has selected CT Tigers NY-Penn League All Star closer Zac Reininger as our 2013 pitcher of the year. Reininger went 1-2 with an ERA of just 1.00 in 22 games. He also fanned 32 in 27 innings and walked just 6 batters. Zac also had 10 saves. Reininger was voted among the best pitchers in the NY-Penn League in a recent issue of Baseball America. 

Dominic Ficociello Connecticut Tigers Connection's Player Of The Year For 2013


Connecticut Tigers Connection has selected second baseman Dominic Ficociello as our 2013 Player Of The Year. Dominic was the most consistent Tiger in 2013, finishing with a team leading average of .264 with 3 HR and team leading 30 RBI'S.
